Gill Arno, (a.k.a. Guglielmo Arnò), was born in Italy and lives in Brooklyn, NY. His work explores areas where sound and image overlap, and is often constructed with found objects and found sound.
In the project mpld he utilizes two old modified slide projectors to create performances where static images become pulsating and fade continuously into one another. The projector's mechanical sounds are tapped and manipulated to reveal their musical potential.
Gill's other activities include performances with the New York Phonographers, installations at experimental music events and publishing books, recordings and other multiples. He is one co-founder of unframed.
Current onstage and recorded collaborations include an ongoing exchange with Ben Owen (who also co-founded unframed), and participation to the unstable collective EA (with André Gonçalves, Andy Graydon, Ben Owen, Gil Sansón, Richard Garet and many others). He has performed in North America and Europe, either solo or in collaboration with other artists. Some of them are Aki Onda, Andrew Lafkas, Audrey Chen, Barry Weisblat, Bruce Tovsky, Bruce McClure, Bryan Eubanks, Byron Westbrook (a.k.a. Corridors), Christian Marclay's dj Trio, dj Olive, Ikue Mori, John Zorn, Katt Hernandez, Koen Holtkamp, Margarida Garcia, Sawako, Toshio Kajiwara.
