Koen Holtkamp has released two solo albums as Aero and two albums as Mountains, a duo project with Brendon Anderegg.
He co-founded the Apestaartje collective/label in 1998 while living in Chicago. Since then the label has relocated to Brooklyn and released fifteen CDs from artists from Japan, Germany, Austria, Australia, France, and the US.

Holtkamp has performed with the likes of Alan Licht, Aki Onda, Fennesz, Tony Conrad, Greg Davis, Minamo & Tape.
